Scenes along the route from the Carpathian hills outside of Brașov, Romania, to the Transfăgărășan road and onward to Bâlea Lake, including the Poenari Citadel, the Carpathian villages of Măgura ('hillock'), Șirnea, Fundata, Moieciu de Sus (upper Moieciu) and Moieciu de Jos (lower Moieciu), and the Saxon fortress town of Sibiu.
Beginning with the farms and hillocks of the Carpathian mountains, passing fruit and honey stalls, barns, Churches and traditional hard-reaped hay stacks. Then over the sleepy broad rivers of the lowland dales, up through winding roads past Poenari Castle (of Vlad Dracul, the Impaler), Lake Vidranu, the beautiful highlands, then waterfalls including Cascada Capra (goat waterfalls), on to Balea Lake and then descending the serpentine roads of northern Transfăgărășan ('across the Făgăraș Mountains') towards Sibiu (a Saxon town).
The Transfăgărășan highway has some wild bears begging for food (not depicted) but feeding is illegal as it is dangerous for both the bears and humans.
This route apparently feature on the Top Gear TV show, with high praise.
