2022 - Macro Hornets And Stink-bugs Up Close - Every Day Photos

Hornets and stink-bugs up close, with a hover fly and a bumble bee for good measure. Seen in Meijendel in Septemeber, surprisingly late in the year. The hornets were quite peaceful if terrifying, which make me think they are the native species of hornet. They were chewing off the bark of what may have been honeysuckle or some kind of bamboo. The hornets had no interest in attacking humans or the many bees about (in Japan hornets have been known to wipe out whole colonies of honey bees, despite the swarming defensive behaviour of the Japanese honey bee).
