Ladakh in the north of India is placed amongst the stunning mountains and oasis-like valleys of the Himalayas. There are many cultural features such as small farming villages with huge houses, and impressive Buddhist monasteries, a legacy of richer times when the Silk Road passed this way.
Wild animals include wild mountain horses, partridge, eagles and marmot. The lake is Tso Kar, looking into China. Plants include beautiful flowers of Markha Valley and also domestic plants such as rhubarb, vestiges of now-abandoned settlements.
